Hello friends, welcome to your weekly motivational moments with Eric Vickery, president of coaching at All-Star Dental Academy. The greatest leaders have both ends of the spectrum. We’ve been going through this HEROES acronym and last week we talked about humble yet confident. This week we’re going to talk about equipping. The equipping side of it means that you are able to pour into others and teach them where to go, teach them how to become better at what they do. Whether that’s with your team and training.

Or that’s with your patients understanding what’s going on, giving them information. Now, the balance of this, both ends of the spectrum, is the learning side. You’re both equipping others, but you’re also willing to be taught. You’re learning at the same time. I’m always learning, and I like to say, if you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room. I love that saying. So be someone who understands, I don’t know it all. That’s a part of being humble. I don’t know it all.

and I’m learning. So in this, and we’ll say this several times, but I know that I’m going to make mistakes. I am not perfect. So how I approach and react to those situations is, oh, I learned something. I can now perform better, be better in who I am and acknowledge that with my team. I love pouring into people. I love helping equip them. And if that’s your patient that you’re influencing,

How you do that is really important. You’re constantly equipping your patients. I know many of you love to educate your patients. That’s a huge part of that. Share with them your journey of how you learn that. You could say things like, you know, I never knew that, or we’re always learning new ways to help people in our industry. The learning curve is always in effect. So the moment you think you know it all, you’re in trouble. That’s too far beyond the spectrum.

So equipping and yet also learning. So if you’re really wanting to grow your leadership skills and you’re wanting to improve as a leader, we have a couple options for you. One is our doctors do a retreat every year. This coming year in 2025, it’ll be January 24th and 25th in Florida. And we will do a two-day leadership retreat. It’s focused in on everything about being a leader.

and for those leaders in the office. We also have coaching for those that want to learn how to be a better leader in their practice. So if you’re interested in that, just email me, eric@allstardentalacademy.com right guys, make it a great week.
