Hi friends, welcome to your weekly motivational moments with Eric Vickery, president of coaching at All-Star Dental Academy. Today I want to talk to you about really what’s the obstacle to growth? What is the number one obstacle to you growing? Well, as we talked about, it all starts with ourselves. We know this. How do we feel about ourselves? What’s our lack of self-belief? What’s our approval addiction that gets in the way? Maybe even old learning that we’ve…

We’re like, oh, we’ve always done it this way. I don’t want to do something new and therefore growth seems to be new. But I think the easiest way for us to lose growth comes from a book by Napoleon Hill where he talks about there’s an enemy that is working to distract you and distract your attention and your focus from growing. And he calls it drifting. And I would agree with that. I find that when I am most intentionally focused on growing.

I get this momentum going, I get this confidence. And as soon as things start not going my way, I get derailed, why aren’t things going my way? And I lose my focus, I start drifting. Or maybe I get on my phone, I get bored, I get on my phone and I scroll and scroll and scroll. Or I get distracted in the drama. And are we letting…

the derailment of our path to success happen over and over again and have to keep coming back, or are we able to stay focused? So the next few weeks, our focus is going to be verbal skills that improve our results and getting patients healthier. And if we’re going to do that, we’ve got to be extremely focused. We’ve got to have a team that is helping hold us accountable to that. So ask your team to hold you accountable to maintaining focus.

You know, set the distractions aside. Create habits that allow you to win on a more regular basis, okay? That’s how we’re gonna get there. All right guys, go out and make it a great week and know that we have our May event coming up, May 16th to the 19th. We’d love to have you there. It’s called the Growth Summit. So it is appropriate that in this video, I talk about growing there. We have amazing speakers coming in. I’m so thrilled with the speakers who’ve said yes to coming to help.
