Hello friends, welcome to your weekly motivational moments with Eric Vickery. I’m president of coaching at All-Star Dental Academy. And today I want to talk to you about this No Snooze Club. You know, there’s actually a study done by neurologists that show you what happens to the brain as the alarm clock blares in the morning, pulling you right out of your best sleep and how that creates a chemical reaction to how you’re going to be.
00:41
the rest of that day and it could take hours to get out of that funk. It take moments for some of you. So last week we talked about what is your, what are your IM statements? What are you going to say to yourself when that alarm clock goes off today? I want to talk to you about the no snooze club. So this week I want you to not use the snooze button.
01:03
I want you to change your alarm clock to one of two things. Usually most phones, I have an iPhone, it has an alarm called slow rise. So it’s a totally different sound when it goes off or it has the option to play a song. So you get to pick whatever song you want that you have on your phone. Those are your two options. Lower the volume. And I want you to practice as soon as that alarm goes off, you can let it play for a while because it’s not so jarring, it’s not so alarming.
01:33
and it wakes you up in a much better mood. And then I want you to move into your self-talk and your IAM statements. Let’s see how that changes when you come into work. Let’s see how that changes your attitude around your family and friends that you encounter in the morning as you go about your day. And by friends, I mean the people that you’re in traffic with that you see every morning that don’t know how to drive. The second thing I want you to do is I want you to create a morning playlist. Now, what I do is once I’m…
02:03
you know, about halfway through my morning getting ready, I go to my playlist on my phone, and I have about 20 to 25 songs on there that I play. And I put my phone in my back pocket, and I’m just playing that as I go about my day, my morning to get ready. I don’t obviously play it all day. I listen to two songs a day. So I got about a 14 day rotation. So I’m not listening to these songs all the time. And they are the type of song, whatever works for you.
02:31
that gets your mind and spirit right. Gets you in sync with who you wanna be that day. It follows your I am statements. It gives you positivity. I don’t know if some of you have ever woken up in the morning, you’ve already got a song playing up in your head, some are really annoying, some are great songs. I want those great songs on repeat. Remember, you are what you eat. So what are you feeding yourself? That’s gonna show up throughout your day. So two tasks for you. I want you to change out of the alarm, right? Change what it’s like. Don’t hit the snooze button.
03:01
the No Snooze Club. Number two, I want you to start playing different sounds around you throughout the morning as you get ready to move in the right direction.
