My friends, Eric Vickery, president of coaching at Allstar Dental Academy with your weekly motivational moments. Today and today we’re going to talk about the ten traits of a great team player. You know, we love the great accurate acronym at all. STAR And so I want to share with you ten characteristics or traits of what it takes to be a great team player.
00:00:35:05 – 00:00:55:22
So jot these down. Number one, your passionate. What gets you passionate and fired up. We talked a couple of weeks ago about your purpose. Your y know what your passion is. Someone that has the ability to show up early to work has a trait of a great team player. When you’re earlier on time. When you’re on time, you’re late.
00:00:55:22 – 00:01:20:05
When you’re late, you’re lost. Right? Someone who’s unselfish, absent of ego. We’re all leaders, right? Every moment of your day, you have an opportunity to be a leader. So there’s leadership attributes in that. And you cannot be a leader with ego. Ego gets in the way. What I mean by that is arrogance. So unselfishness. I’m going to do this for my team, mate.
00:01:20:07 – 00:01:43:20
That’s a great trait, right? Number four, you’re going to play any role on the team, play any role in the team and respect leadership. Those go hand in hand. So leadership says, Hey, we need this from you today. So-and-so’s out. You’re going to jump in. Number five, someone who leads by example. You know, if I lead by example, I might even fail in that.
00:01:43:21 – 00:02:02:05
And you can see how I can handle failure and say, hey, that’s someone that I admire. So number six, high work ethic. You’re always looking for ways to improve. How are you growing? Number seven of the ten traits of a great team player have a positive attitude. You know what I think about having mindset and a positive mental attitude.
00:02:02:11 – 00:02:27:21
This is huge when it comes to affecting a team. Nobody likes Debbie Downer. It really bums you out. Have a positive attitude. Don’t be ignorant of problems, but have a positive attitude. Number eight Accountability. I have to be accountable in my position. You have to be accountable. That means give me feedback. Give me feedback. Number nine Coachable. How coachable are you?
00:02:27:22 – 00:02:47:18
So once you get that feedback and you are accountable to your results, how coachable are you to change? Do you know everything? I think all of us raise our hand and say, Hey, we don’t know everything. Number ten encourages others. What are you doing to encourage others on your team? So some of those were hits for you. Some of those were misses and their challenges for you.
00:02:48:00 – 00:03:07:08
That doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you. It’s now time to step up and be motivated. So in these weekly videos, I want you to think about what am I going to do differently as I walk out? And maybe you heard something there. Maybe you said, you know what team, I need to be more coachable. I need you to be hold me more accountable some things and I’ll give you permission to do that.
00:03:07:10 – 00:03:09:10
All right, guys, have a great week.
